Recently, a study found that pomegranate extract can improve myocardial infarction in patients with cardiovascular health indicators, in particular,it can reduce blood cholesterol levels.
In this study, 100 patients aged 20-60 years with myocardial infarction were enrolled in the study and participants were randomized into two groups. One group received 300 mg of pomegranate extract twice daily and the other placebo. The experiment lasted 30 days, the results showed that total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol and HDL levels were significantly improved in patients taking pomegranate extract, and that the levels of triglycerides, serum homocysteine and OX-LDL in these patients also significantly improved.
In another study conducted by the same team, the researchers found that pomegranate extract also significantly reduced blood sugar and HbA1C levels in patients with type 2 diabetes. In this study, the researchers collected 40 patients aged 20-55 years of type 2 diabetes, is also taking the pomegranate extract twice a day, or placebo, the test time is also 30 days.
